Germany 2016
Six months of learning,
self-discovery, and adventure
A weekend im Schwarzwald
6-9 August
near Emmendingen -
They rented this vineyard hut under the Hochburg. There were a lot of people.
yum
... you've seen them all?
(which means water). We decided that it was some family's backyard they turned into a campground - plop your tent or camper wherever you can find a spot - kind of deal. There was an old barn that was the kitchen area and two buildings for showers and bathrooms. Pretty neat set up. Seems to be the norm in these parts.
One of Germany's longest waterfalls.
let's walk the rocks back up to the top....
Here begins our 20km "Naturpark Südschwarzwald" hike. Our goal was Schattenmühl, but with detours we found civilization again in Boll and overnighted in Bonndorf. Amazingly enough, there were a lot of people (Sunday hikers) throughout the entire hike.
"It's just a hike."
... before our next-day's hike. Check out this typical Fachwerkhaus. So old, so cool!
The walls were at least 12 inches thick. The window view in the back overlooked the mountain with a creek below that we could only hear not see (too many pine trees).
through the forest
and have lunch (water was very cold! but felt great!)

We walked along the Wutach creek, including up, down and around the gorge for miles. Just when you thought you couldn't go higher, higher we climbed. It was beautiful. (see water below right)
View from bed
(minus any juices). Our weekend ends at a nights stay in Bonndorf at a Gasthaus. Needless to say, a very good nights sleep and delicious breakfast.
